Our client, a partner-led Consultancy, is looking for an Actuarial Consultant to join their DB Pensions Consulting team in the South West. The Actuarial Consultant position would suit someone part way through the Actuarial exams who has some experience in a ‘checker’ role or someone at the Nearly/Newly Qualified level who is comfortable in a ‘checker’ role and looking to move into a ‘reviewer’ position.

Working across a portfolio of predominantly Trustee schemes, this role would see you engaging with a variety of clients on both standard and bespoke projects. Depending on your level of experience, you may be able to take a lead role on several small-medium clients over time, whilst supporting more senior colleagues on larger and more complex schemes.

The Actuarial Consultant position can be based from a couple of different offices in South West England. Hybrid working is offered as standard, with most colleagues spending 2 days a week in the office.

Responsibilities of the Actuarial Consultant:

  • Provide expert advice to Corporate and Trustee pension schemes on a range of issues including GMP, Risk Transfer, Member Options and Investments
  • Leading client relationships with your own client portfolio, providing advice directly and managing work allocation internally
  • Review valuations and calculations completed by junior team members
  • Attending client meetings and contributing to new business efforts
  • Mentor and train junior Actuarial staff where appropriate

Skills/Experience required for the Actuarial Consultant:

  • Part Qualified or Nearly/Newly Qualified Actuary
  • Prior experience in DB Pensions Consulting
  • Strong communication skills
