This role profile is for a senior manager within the pricing modelling team. In this role you’ll be overseeing a team of pricing specialists and applying your people and project management skills. At the same time, they expect you to be technically strong and able to get hands-on with data processing, modelling, report writing and presenting.
Key duties (including, but not limited to):
- Ownership of the pricing modelling strategy to enhance the volume and profitability of the portfolio, including accountability for delivering key strategic goals
- Ownership of technical rates, including proposing and driving new calibrations of risk models and calculating the estimated financial impacts
- Develop and embed the pricing modelling strategy/approach, using experience and learnings from the GI market, to significantly enhance the risk pricing of the portfolio
- Drive the development and enhancement of pricing models through R&D and subsequent implementation of cutting-edge statistical modelling techniques, refreshing analyses at agreed intervals, working collaboratively with the Data Science team
- Take ownership of pricing modelling projects from ideation to implementation stage, applying project management skills and keeping accountability for delivery deadlines
Qualifications required:
- Qualified actuary (desirable)
Experience required:
- 8+ years’ experience in an actuarial or analytical team, ideally within a pricing function at a health or GI insurer
- Experience with leading a team, showing strong people and project management, and accountability for results
- Demonstrated capability of applying data science, statistics and machine learning techniques in building predictive models
- Experience building actuarial cashflow models
- Proficiency coding in SQL and Python or similar languages
- Strong problem solving, analytical skills and actuarial judgement
