I joined the Glasgow office as part of the 2023 graduate intake. From the moment I walked through the doors, I have enjoyed being a part of a supportive and engaging environment. Since starting on the investment team, I have been involved with a variety of clients of all sizes, including DB pension schemes, DC pension schemes, local government pension schemes and specialist investment advisory clients. I have also had the chance to be part of a research team, gaining exposure to a different style of work and approach to learning.
As part of my role, I have also had the opportunity to start working towards a professional qualification. Through the comprehensive study package and mentor support, I have been able to effectively apply myself to my studies, despite not coming from a financial background. On the social side, there is always lots going on both at local and firm level. As well as being enjoyable, these opportunities to get stuck in and mingle across teams, levels and offices have helped me to foster both a real interest and confidence in my own development.

The Investment Analyst role in more detail:
All of our graduates get early opportunities to work directly with clients and plenty of training to develop their technical, communication and problem-solving skills.
Some of the tasks you can get involved in as an Investment Analyst working across in the Investment Consulting team include:
- working with consultants to assess the objectives and requirements of clients (including pension schemes, corporates, charities, endowments and more);
- working with Client Account Managers to prepare bespoke investment advice and regular reports;
- carrying out investment calculations, alongside building and running investment models;
- attending client meetings and taking an active role in presentations;
- building knowledge through research (such as investment manager research, sustainable investment research or within another of our specialist research sub-teams);
- preparing regulatory disclosures;
- general consultancy, including communicating with clients and third parties on a day-to-day basis; and
- studying for either the IFoA or CFA qualification.
Our investment analysts develop a broad, transferable skillset which covers both technical and consulting matters.
You will also have opportunities to work on a wide range of projects and to develop your softer skills.
Alongside the on-the-job training you will have full study support comprising of study leave, financial support, and a study mentor – we want you to succeed with us!

Our current graduate vacancies require a minimum 2:1 degree, A at A-Level or Higher Maths and Level 6 at GCSE English Language or B at Scottish National 5, (or other equivalent qualifications), we require dedicated individuals with a strong academic background who are dynamic, proactive and have excellent communication skills.

On this platform, you will be required to complete three sections designed to assess various skills and aptitudes, this also includes a one-way video interview section. (More information on the individual sections will be provided when you receive the link.
The Early Careers team will review the results and successful applicants will be invited to a short telephone call before the assessment day in the local office that you have applied for.
