From increasing demand for natural resources driven by the dynamism of the BRIC economies to the impact on oil prices of ongoing political instability in the Middle East, the issues that face our Insurance, Reinsurance and Risk Management business are many and varied. The constant threat of terrorism, kidnap, military coups and piracy that affect the operations of construction companies, oil producers, airlines, shipping companies and other global businesses all fall into this complex mix.
Life is full of risk; it can’t be controlled, but it can be managed. Our Insurance, Reinsurance and Risk Management Stream predicts and spreads risk so, in the event of major catastrophes, economies can keep going and people can get on with their lives. For example, Aon co-sponsors Tropical Storm Risk (TSR), which provides real-time mapping and prediction of tropical cyclone windfields worldwide, and provides an outlook report to coincide with the start of the Atlantic hurricane season.
The role
Aon’s Commercial Risk Solutions and Reinsurance Solutions divisions deliver dynamic and bespoke intellectual and financial capacity to Aon clients all over the world. We help our global teams provide solutions to meet our clients’ specialist insurance, reinsurance and risk management needs. Not only do we act in a wholesale and reinsurance capacity, we also deliver direct retail business to clients where appropriate.
Our summer interns begin with a training and induction period and receive continual on the job training throughout the programme, they are given real responsibility early on to ensure they leave with a deep understanding of their potential future career path. Our interns experience the full lifecycle of our business – from the trading of risk in the market, to winning new clients, to understanding the importance of claims. Client management and an understanding of client needs underpin this lifecycle and are key to all that we do. As such, our interns will meet and develop relationships with a broad spectrum of people including our own industry specialists, our clients and members of the wider London and international reinsurance markets.
If you are successful in securing offer for a graduate role, when you returned you would have the opportunity to study for the ACII (Advanced Diploma in Insurance) via the Chartered Institute of Insurers.
